This is the seventeenth chapter of DARLING in the FRANXX.

Plot

Squad 13 is surprised to see how their FRANXX units are different than those of Squad 26. Hachi informs them there is a larger klaxosaur among the horde of small ones and it doesn’t match any klaxosaurs on file so it will be called Beta. They are told to eliminate the small klaxosaurs first and proceed with caution against the large one, with Code 090 acting as commander for the mission. Code 090 orders his squad to kill the klaxosaurs individually, which they do in quick succession. Goro is amazed of their coordination skills. Four klaxosaurs head towards Squad 13. Zorome and Futoshi are worried they can’t handle it but Mitsuru says even if they are inexperienced they can pull through without Strelizia and not lose to Squad 26. Squad 13 then heads to the battle.

Zero Two talks with Dr. Franxx, who tells her Strelizia is being boarded for transp and they will be returning to HQ. Seeing her sad, he says he thought she fulfilled her wish of seeing Hiro but she says he doesn’t remember her and he must not be her darling. Hiro approaches Nana, who told him to stay in the staging area until the battle is over. He asks her a question about Zero Two.
