This is the fifteenth chapter of DARLING in the FRANXX.

Plot

Hachi announces to Plantations 13 and 26 that 100 to 150 klaxosaurs have been spotted from a distance and will arrive in 10 hours. Squad 13 returns to their boarding house before they are due to fight and Zorome compliments Hiro. Mitsuru says, considering there is a difference between their strengths, it won’t be easy and there will still be too many enemies despite this being a joint mission with a Squad 26. Miku isn’t concerned as long as they have Strelizia but Ikuno reminds her Hiro isn’t an official stamen yet. Miku and Zorome ask Hiro if he is okay with this and he vows to do his best.

In the boys dorm, Goro tries asking Hiro something when Hiro collapses in pain. Goro sees the tumor on Hiro’s chest and Hiro admits he’s had it since his first ride with Zero Two. Goro ties to call for help but Hiro stops him and asks him to not tell anyone. Hiro says he wants to sortie no matter what and he regrets pushing this on Goro but he will not be running away anymore. Goro angrily shouts that Hiro doesn’t understand what this will do to Ichigo because Hiro is the most important person to her and Hiro is his friend. In the girls changing room, Zero Two is changing into her parasite suit when Ichigo asks her to not push Hiro and follow her orders. Zero Two calls her arrogant and says Hiro wants to pilot with her, and asks, since Ichigo couldn’t ride with him, to give him to her. Ichigo says it had nothing to do with her and Zero Two tells her to stay out of it because Hiro belongs to her. Ichigo says he will die and Zero Two says that will mean he couldn’t ride with her. Ichigo slaps her across the face, knocking off her headband, and says she is human, calling her heartless. Zero Two‘s eyes turn red and she coldly asks what does being human to her, frightening Ichigo. Alpha comes in and says Ichigo is right, and he guesses Zero Two is thinking why he is here. He explains Papa sent him to bring her back to the 9’s and she won’t be participating in the next battle, and she will be alone.
