This is the twelfth chapter of DARLING in the FRANXX.

Plot

At the boarding house, everyone discusses how Hiro piloted Strelizia. Zorome brushes it off as pure luck. Hiro says everyone fought the klaxosaurs together and promises to do his best next time. They shake hands. Ikuno apologizes for not being useful but Ichigo tells her not to worry about it. They receive an incoming call from Nana.

As they get ready for bed, Goro says he is still worried about the rumors of Zero Two’s partners dying after the third ride and Hiro has rode with her twice. Hiro insists he is fine and a Goro believes him. After turning off the lights and going to bed, Hiro painfully clings to his chest and feels his chest is hot, nd wonders if it’s because he piloted with her. He remembers what Ichigo said about the rumors but Hiro chose to ride with her because he believed it’s where he belongs. In the morning, Hiro wakes up and finds himself touching Zero Two’s breast and he panics while she says the doctor said parasites are better off being a little pervy. Goro wakes up from his scream and Zero Two jumps on his stomach while saying good morning to Hiro. He asks her what she’s doing and she says she will be living with them from now on. Ichigo angrily enters the room and says she prepared a room for her. Zero Two asks to stay with a Hiro but Ichigo says they have rules and sends her away. She tells the boys about Nana’s decision on the matter until they come up with a solution for Zero Two‘s situation.

Nana and Hachi analyze Hiro’s information from the last battle. Hachi is amazed Hiro is still alive since his yellow blood count is abnormal but will keep this a secret from the council. He says the “kissing” with Plantation 26 will be commencing soon. Nana knows “kissing” will attract klaxosaurs but they need Strelizia on their side and this will be Hiro’s third ride. In the bathroom, Hiro opens his shirt and a large tumor is growing on his chest.
