This is the sixth chapter of DARLING in the FRANXX.

Plot

Ichigo sits at the front porch playing with a cat and Hiro walks out the front door. He tells her he is going to the training unit and she encourages him to do his best. During his training, Hiro remembers when he asked Goro to tell Ichigo it wasn’t her fault they failed to connect. Goro asks Hiro what he will do next and Hiro says he asked to pilot Strelizia again. Goro reminds him about the rumors of Zero Two but Hiro brushes them off as just rumors and is determined to pilot again. Mitsuru watches Hiro train nearby and he finds Zero Two resting on the floor, and questions her what she is doing. She says she is waiting for her darling. Mitsuru calls Hiro hopeless because he was not even able to connect with Ichigo despite being considered special and he hates seeing Hiro like this but he is not the Hiro from before. Mitsuru offers to be her partner and says he is incomparable with Ikuno. Zero Two coldly says he will die if he pilots with her. Mitsuru thinks this means he is more different than Hiro as she walks away. He then receives a message about a mission.

In the meeting room, Hachi reports the squad will have their first battle at level 8 of the magma energy mining. The girls change into their underwear for the pilot suits and Kokoro mentions how weird it felt connecting with someone else while in the FRANXX. Miku tickles her stomach while saying it feels like your insides stirring up. Ikuno says there will be no problems if they calm down and trust their partner. Ichigo resolves to work hard as the leader. Hiro rushes to the meeting room when he runs into Zero Two, who says she has been waiting for him and tells him to go to Strelizia.
