Plot

Hiro thinks about Naomi’s words. Meanwhile, Squad 13 is getting ready for the startup test. Just as Hiro is about to leave, he changes his mind about leaving. Vibrations are felt and everyone becomes alarmed. Hiro sees Naomi‘s ship get ambushed by a klaxosaur. Dr. Franxx notes it’s a Maho class and is impressed but Nana orders everyone to evacuate. The plantation begins firing missiles at the klaxosaur but it starts attacking the gates where the squad and their FRANXX units are at. Hiro runs to the scene when Strelizia starts fighting the klaxosaur while in stampede mode. Papa realizes Zero Zero has devoured her partner again. As Strelizia attacks the klaxosaur, it is thrown at the plantation. Zero Two‘s partner falls out of the cockpit dead and Zero Two emerges wounded but ready to keep fighting despite Hiro telling her she will die piloting on her own. She says she is not afraid of death and Hiro offers to pilot with her because he feels he is better off dead if he can’t pilot. She smiles and pulls him into the cockpit, saying he is now her darling and kisses him.

The squad wonders if Strelizia was eaten as the klaxosaur prepares to attack again. Strelizia then emerges as a humanoid FRANXX and begins fighting the klaxosaur. Dr. Franxx says when positive and negative -male and female- factors combine and become one, the Iron Maiden will reveal her true form. Strelizia easily destroys the klaxosaur’s core and kills it. Everyone is shocked when they see Hiro was piloting it. Nana introduces Zero Two as a Pistil under the special forces unit APE controls. Zero Two smiles and says she has found her darling.
